Right-wing influencer and former Ye campaign adviser Milo Yiannopoulos has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

ICE’s inmate finder shows the United Kingdom native was being held in Louisiana on Friday. Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, is scheduled to perform a Friday night show in New Orleans.

It’s not clear if there’s a connection.

A Department of Homeland Security official said the “illegal alien from the United Kingdom” was taken into custody at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

“Yiannopoulos legally entered the country on May 14, 2019, through New York City, New York. He chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws,” the agency said.

Officials claimed Yiannopoulos was issued a final order of removal by an Immigration Judge on July 22 after failing to show up for his immigration hearing.

His detainment was first reported by TMZ. He’ll remain in ICE custody pending his removal, DHS said.

The 41-year-old activist served on Ye’s unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign, which also included far-right influencer Nick Fuentes.

Yiannopoulos parted ways with the rapper in May 2024 telling TMZ that he was concerned that Ye’s media empire was looking into growing to include pornography.

“I wish Ye every success in the future. I have some concerns about his new team, and hope he proceeds with caution,” he said.

Yiannopoulos said in June 2022 that he was working as an unpaid intern for former Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The Anti-Defamation League describes Yiannopoulos as “a misogynistic, racist, xenophobic, transphobic troll who is extremely good at getting people to pay attention to him.”

Yiannopoulos calls himself a “civil rights icon” on X, where he’s called for ICE to crackdown on anyone who can’t prove they’re in the U.S. legally.
