Prince William reveals love of pubs

Prince William has revealed his love of pubs, named his favourite drink and declared the UK's boozers need to be protected.
The Prince of Wales, 44, has been unveiled as the latest guest editor of Country Life Magazine and during his six-month stint in charge, the heir to the throne opened up about the more personal aspects of his life by revealing he enjoys visiting pubs and indulging in a pint of cider with ice.
In a preview of the magazine's coverage, William was pictured sitting at the bar of a pub surrounded by punters and he declared more needs to be done to help Britain's boozers keep their doors open, telling the publication: "We need to protect our pubs".
The Prince of Wales follows in the footsteps of his father, King Charles, by guest-editing Country Life as the monarch previously worked on issues of the magazine to mark his 65th and 70th birthdays.
William's aunt Anne, Princess Royal also celebrated her 70th birthday by taking charge of the magazine while his step-mother Queen Camilla became a guest editor when she turned 75 in 2022.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: "The Prince of Wales has a longstanding passion for the countryside and the vital role it plays in the nation's life, culture and wellbeing.
"His guest editorship of Country Life reflects a desire to celebrate the people, places and innovative stewardship helping to secure its future for generations to come."
Country Life editor-in-chief Mark Hedges previously praised the prince as a "passionate countryman" when his guest editorship was announced earlier this year.
He said in a statement: "I'm completely thrilled that the Prince of Wales has agreed to edit a very special issue of Country Life.
"Having met with him last week to discuss his plans for his edition, I was struck by what a passionate countryman he is and how much he cares about the welfare of those who manage it.
"I believe that HRH's views, concerns and hopes for its future will resonate deeply with our readers and I am excited to see how his energy and commitment to changing rural lives will be reflected in his curated edition."
Prince William's 300-page issue of Country Life will be released on November 11.
