Chase Infiniti is heading deeper into horror after landing the lead role in Portrait of God - a new Lionsgate film bringing together genre heavyweights Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele for their first collaboration as producers.

The 26-year-old Golden Globe and Emmy nominee will star in the feature from 25-year-old filmmaker Dylan Clark, whose original viral horror short of the same name has attracted millions of views online. Lionsgate has acquired the project and given it the green light, with Dylan also preparing to direct the studio's forthcoming reboot of The Blair Witch Project.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson said: "We're delighted to deepen our creative partnership with Dylan Clark, whose remarkable talent and distinctive perspective make him one of the most exciting emerging voices in horror.

"With Sam and Jordan, two of the genre's most influential producers, the extraordinary Chase Infiniti starring, and Dylan at the helm, this is an exceptional creative team. We believe they have all the ingredients for a film that is haunting, thought-provoking, and scary as hell."

The movie expands the world of Dylan's 2022 short, which centres on a religious young woman preparing a presentation about a mysterious painting called Portrait of God.

The apparently dark canvas can be seen differently by those who look at it - before the woman discovers that something may be looking back.

The project marks another major role for Chase following her breakout opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another.

Her performance earned her a 2026 Golden Globe nomination for best female actor in a musical or comedy, while the film won four Golden Globes, including best motion picture - musical or comedy, director and screenplay for Paul.

Chase has also moved into one of television's biggest dystopian franchises as Agnes in The Testaments, the sequel to The Handmaid's Tale.

Her performance secured her an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, while the show was renewed for a second season after its first run streamed on Hulu and Disney+.

She previously appeared in the Apple TV+ legal thriller Presumed Innocent, before One Battle After Another established her as a major film talent.

Dylan said of his new leading actor: "With Blair Witch, I'm experiencing firsthand the trust Lionsgate places in its filmmakers, and I couldn't be happier that 'Portrait of God' has found a home there as well.

"I'm also thrilled to welcome Chase Infiniti to our team. She blew me away in One Battle After Another and is one of the most exciting young actors working today."

Dylan's next Blair Witch film is scheduled to reach cinemas on September 24, 2027, bringing back the franchise launched by the hugely successful 1999 found-footage horror The Blair Witch Project.

The new film will mark his feature directorial debut.

Portrait of God will also unite two filmmakers whose careers have become closely associated with horror.

Sam Raimi, created The Evil Dead series before directing the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy and later Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Jordan Peele moved from comedy into horror with his Oscar-winning Get Out before directing Us and Nope.

He will produce Portrait of God through Monkeypaw Productions, while Sam and Rob Tapert, 71, are producing through Ghost House Pictures.

The film represents the first time Sam and Jordan have worked together as producers.
