NEW YORK — Big Bird asked fans how they’re holding up at the end of a busy week that had plenty of low points. Venting ensued.

“Big Bird is just popping in to see how everyone is doing today!” the seemingly innocuous message posted to X Friday morning reads.

The “Sesame Street” star got many grim responses on the educational program’s social media feed.

“Not great Big Bird, lots of great people passing as of late, it’s been a real downer,” responded an X user under the handle Dr. Katz.

That seemed to be the general consensus. The celebrity death that got the most attention this week was that of 80-year-old singer Dolly Parton. The world mourned for the “Jolene” singer whose amazing life of music and philanthropy ended in a Tennessee hospital Tuesday.

“Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Muppet Treasure Island” star Tim Curry died Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Their deaths came a week after that of 36-year-old actor Hayden Panettiere.

“BIG BIRD STAY INSIDE! DEATH MIGHT COME FOR YOU TOO!” wrote an X user named Jackson.

Other Big Bird followers lamented the end of summer, which comes next month.

“Not good Mr. Bird. This week has been kinda mental for multiple reasons,” wrote another X user.

Big Bird’s “Sesame Street” colleague Elmo got a similar reply when he asked “How is everybody doing?” in January 2024.

Many readers — some likely joking — shared their grievances with Elmo.

“I did not have us all trauma dumping on elmo on my bingo card,” wrote one of that character’s X followers.

“Sesame Street” used its curious and empathetic Big Bird character to teach kids about death after beloved actor Will Lee, who played the show’s Mr. Hooper, died in 1983.

“We can remember him and remember him and remember him as much as we want to,” Big Bird conceded. “But I don’t like it.”
